Pipes: FF_discussion_mash
December 29 at 2:05 pm - pipes.yahoo.com - Link
My friend Taylor was looking for a way to get an RSS feed of a specific set of FriendFeed users' comments and likes. Here's one solution that works pretty well using Yahoo! Pipes. It just combines the atom feeds for users' discussion pages (likes + comments) into one feed. Click "edit source" to customize your own feed inputs. Ta-da! - Bryan Landers via Bookmarklet
did you tell justin about this? he's a pipes FREAK - Ethan Bauley
Cool! This was the first time I really played with it. Such a cool idea and execution. Re: justin http://twitter.com/bryanlander... - Bryan Landers
I've used Pipes for a couple things, pretty cool and powerful, yet I've only scratched the surface. - Taylor Davidson

"What's the fun in that?! It would be like playing scrabble with a kickass dictionary application that can find the longest word possible with your letters. I shouldn't have to explain why guessing incorrectly is part of the fun to the man who wrote the blog post, "HOW TO FAIL!!!" ;)" - Bryan Landers

Maybe the old distribution model is dead for small publications...what about a Threadless-style or made-to-order model so that magazines are pre-purchased with no risk of over-printing? - Bryan Landers

I've been enjoying site v4 of collage and type artist Eduardo Recife. Being a sucker for both antiqued type and this style of vintage prints combined with illustration, I love him! Check out the free fonts... - Bryan Landers via Bookmarklet

""I was planning on disliking Reno..." That's a keeper for your unwritten novel ;) I lived in Vegas once...after being robbed our first night at a hotel just off Flamingo, we sought safer haven far up the hill on the west side of town. The Red Rocks Canyon State Park became a quick, yet sufficient getaway. It was easy to forget the facade-driven glitz of the Strip up there surrounded by the time-worn, mineral-stained rock landscapes (the visitor center was charmingly creepy, as well)." - Bryan Landers

Their UI and design is excellent. The concept of editing in place is golden. They are trying to solve too many problems, however (hosting, replacing tumblr, etc). Opensource projects like http://sfdcenter.org/sparrow.h... in conjunction with an aggregated site hub are a better model because you can use any number of inputs (tumblr, twitter, etc) to create your own site. Why lock yourself into one service? And why base your business model on this kind of all-or-nothing approach? - Bryan Landers
