Caroline Kennedy repeats 'you know' 142 times in interview - Telegraph

"During an interview with the paper she stumbled badly, fuelling comparisons to Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska, whose bid for the vice-presidency was blighted by a series of disastrous interview with Katie Couric of CBS News. Perhaps most damaging of all was her repeated use of the phrase "you know", which she uttered 142 times and was left in the transcript when it appeared in print. " - Anthony K. Happy Founders' Day, Kappa Alpha Psi. Founded January 5, 1911 at Indiana University.

"It was the vision of these astute men that enabled them in the school year 1910 - 11, more specifically the night of January 5, 1911, on the campus of Indiana University at Bloomington, Indiana, to sow the seed of a fraternal tree whose fruit is available to, and now enjoyed by, college men everywhere, regardless of their color, religion or national origin. It is a fact of which KAPPA ALPHA PSI is justly proud that the Constitution has never contained any clause which either excluded or suggested the exclusion of a man from membership merely because of his color, creed, or national origin. The Constitution of KAPPA ALPHA PSI is predicated upon, and dedicated to, the principles of achievement through a truly democratic Fraternity." - Anthony K. Valley © via Bookmarklet

"A 50% increase in gasoline and diesel fuel taxes is being urged by the commission to finance highway construction and repair until the government devises another way for motorists to pay for using public roads." - Anthony K. Valley © via Bookmarklet
so either way we still gotta pay. hate this crap - Cee Bee
According to Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G..., the *average* gasoline tax in the US was $0.47/gallon in Q1 2008. An increase of 50% is going to be an extra $0.25 or so. This is about 10-15% increase in the total cost of gasoline. Considering that vehicles are more efficient, yet we drive on the highways at least as much, I don't see this as unreasonable. - klecu
The real question is, how else do you pay for it? If highway costs are higher than tax revenue from gas, something's gotta give. If you increase property or revenue taxes, you're putting the burden of the highway system on everyone (including city-dwellers who take the bus). - Louis Simoneau
In my opinion, additional taxes should be the last option considered to generate funding. It makes me wonder how inefficiency exists in the highway department. And if a tax increase is the only viable solution, will the increase only last long enough to manage the shortfall plus a reseasonalbe surplus. Or will it eventually get consumed with existing financial inefficiencies in the highway system bringing us back to this point later? - Anthony K. Valley ©
I like a use tax based on vehicle weight. There's no way my Kia tears up roads like a Tahoe. And it probably takes a hundred of us to do the damage of 1 Tractor/Trailer. - Brian Norwood
