“No wonder Jobs didn't want to be at this keynote. There was nothing really to announce.”
2 hours ago - Link
totally missed it...anything even remotely approaching "interesting"? - Live4Soccer
Live: new 17-inch MacbookPro. - Robert Scoble
and thats about it - apart from a drm-free iTunes - sdfx
8 hours battery life, 8GB of RAM, and 1080p display is nice, but is it really "interesting"? It seems very evolutionary to me. - Sparky
The iPhoto upgrade is interesting - Stephen Foskett
I wanted iPhone updates. :( - Rochelle
a 17 inch is a mongrel - too big to be portable and I would rather have a imac on my desk. 15" is the sweetspot. Would love 8GB on my mbp though. - Kamath ॐ
I'm upset with the continued refusal to roll out the iPhone push notification framework. It's the one thing holding the iPhone back from replacing a notebook in my life completely. - Sparky
Scoble: meh....i mean COOL that it's so thin and it's a 17" macbook pro but for me, i wasn't in the market for one so that one's lost on me...dig the drm free itunes however! :-) - Live4Soccer
Yeah, definitely disappointing. - Akiva Moskovitz
What no Mac Mini upgrade? No new iTunes Music Stores for other countries? No new iPhone sales in countries that are still not getting it (say, Malaysia)? Disappointing keynote... - Colin Charles via twhirl
The only thing I am even somewhat excited about is the itunes DRM free stuff. - Colide81 (James)
Kamath: I love my 13", but think about how many people use their mac solely at home - sdfx
No Mac Mini and no Snow Leopard. I guess the lack of Snow Leopard news means it's quite some way from release. - Paul Grav
Snow Leopard is more of a developer/IT release: MacWorld is a consumer-based conference. They're probably keeping Snow Leopard for WWDC, which is when they normally talk about the OS. - Mark Trapp
Paul, my guess is March or April. - Akiva Moskovitz
Best thing to come out of this is 10 million DRM free songs by end of Q1. - Kenton
Yeah, nothing surprising. A lot of pretty standard upgrades. Maybe it's good there won't be anymore! - Benny Wong
Re: the Mac Mini, Apple has been known to silently update products that don't fit into keynotes. - Mark Trapp
Any iPhone announcements? How about copy/paste and video for the iPhone? - Kenley Neufeld
Cut and Paste for the iPhone? BWAHAHAHA... - Tutivillus Grift
I guess too that the specs of the mini and the displays will be silently improved - sdfx
Funny. The only people I know who seem to care about cut & paste on the iPhone are people who would never buy an iPhone anyway. Most iPhone owners that I know don't miss it. - Akiva Moskovitz
I still like Amazon's mp3 store. Took apple long enough. - Derrick
The only reason nothing was shocking was because we already knew what was coming thanks to the power of the internet. If it wasn't leaks and rumors we would have all been shocked by, oh I don't know, DRM free iTunes. - mathew, keynote not lame
Akiva, i think that while cut/paste is not a "MUST HAVE OMG IT'S MISSING" kind of thing, to just not have something as simple as that seems, well, petty. just get it in there and shut everyone up about it...there have been a few times on my touch where i needed it and it would have been nice...but no one is saying, that i know of, that it will break the phone or ipod by including it....so then DO EET! - Live4Soccer
Why would you spend R&D on a feature that won't have an effect on a buying decision? - Mark Trapp
Well, you know that Apple does whatever the hell it wants to do so it's not even really an arguable issue. - Akiva Moskovitz
Not impressed by the new declarations from apple. - Richard Azia
I've had an iPhone for awhile now and very much miss cut & paste. - Rob Michael
Every time I want to post a fun link on FF via the iPHone - I miss cut and paste. Typing a long URL on the iPhone from one browser window to another is like beating one's head against a wall. - Jason Kaneshiro
I have a touch and wish it had cut and paste also. It limits the device in its ability to do work. - RAPatton
It's so funny to read everyone's comments. Chris Pirillo seemed to be uttering plenty of "oo"s and "ah"s to me. - Spidra Webster
sdfx: I get that. Which is why I would think they would prefer a imac with a 20-24" screen rather than a mbp 17". Also get that it's a preference - just my opinion. - Kamath ॐ
I was thrilled to hear the DRM-free news. - Mike

And you guys will have to come to Mind Camp! - Sparky
Why would I go to Mind Camp? - Rochelle
Ow. My ears were burning. - Louis Gray
LAZY! Just cuz it's in Seattle, huh - Josh Haley
Uh oh. I'm busted! - Rochelle
See y'all at Gnomedex! - Mona N.
Gnomedex was awesome last year. Can't wait for this year! - Brian Daniel Eisenberg
What's Gnomedex? </civilian> - Derrick
@Derrick It's a "conference" that Chris & Ponzi Pirillo host every year here in Seattle. More here: http://www.gnomedex.com/ - Brian Daniel Eisenberg
Oooh, Rochelle, you'll have to bring lots of Motrin then. - Laura Norvig
Hahah, yes. I'll pass out packets of Motrin like business cards. - Rochelle
Ooh, I love Motrin. And I could go to Ezell's. Could I just go to Ezell's and not bother with the conference? My Seattle friend told me about Dick's today, too. Clearly, I'm all about the food. - Derrick

Great suggestions so far! Keep 'em coming! - Akiva Moskovitz
HAAAAAAAaaaaaaahahahahahhaa!!!! Akiva, I would happily give you suggestions, but since I don't use WP I don't know that they'd be of much use. - Stupid Blogger (aka Tina)
You already have a great TXP one! - directeur
Don't worry, directeur. I am not abandoning The Encyclopedia. I just want something that's kind of a companion to what I'm doing here. When I need more space to stretch out. - Akiva Moskovitz
Venturing to the Dark Side, Akiva? Congrats. :) - Mona N.
Eh, I'll probably get bored sooner or later, Mona, and let the site languish until the domain expires. It's how I roll. - Akiva Moskovitz
Akiva: true true. I've honestly started more blogs than I have written posts. It's fun to setup a blog and load it up with goodies - then I usually go..meh. - Kamath ॐ
I use Viper's Video QuickTags for embedding video, WordPress PDA and iPhone, WP SUP (pings and imports to FF immediately), MediaRSS (if done right, allows images from blog to import into FF) - Josh Haley
Here's a featureful Contact Form plugin (its anti-spam kung fu works great for me) http://www.deliciousdays.com/c... (EDIT: I first wrote Comment when I meant Contact) - Micah Wittman via twhirl
Thanks, guys. Any worth looking into IntenseDebate or Disqus? - Akiva Moskovitz
yes. Disqus and ID are great. you may want to pick up ID if you want to integrate FF comments into the blog - The Amber
Disqus is best - Mohomed=genieyclo
I have to say, my favourite plugin is Flickr Photo Album (http://www.tantannoodles.com/t...). It's the most well-rounded, useful plugin I use. It creates albums from your flickr photos on your site (keeping sets intact) and seemlessly integrates into the post-writing flow to add flickr photos direct. It's seriously changed the way I blog. - Joshua Nunn
Joshua, interesting! I'll have to look into that. - Akiva Moskovitz

“Am I the only person who doesn't care about Picasa for Mac?”
21 hours ago - Link
No...but I'm beginning to wonder if I'm the only person who cares that they picked the absolute worst actor for Spock. - Alex Scoble
I like to try out applications to see if they'll improve my workflow. I guess I'm trying to figure out the reason for this post - so it doesn't matter to y'all. Why tweak the noses of people who are eager to try it? - Cecily
I don't care about anything for Mac, and I care even less for Picasa. I don't like the program at all. - Anika Malone
I'm a Mac user, and a Picasa web albums user. I just looked at Picasa for Mac earlier, and didn't like it much. If I move away from iPhoto, I'll more likely move away from any photo manager and just use Finder and Adobe Bridge for navigation. - Logical Extremes
Non-Mac users probably don't care! *points at self* - Rochelle
How's Adobe Bridge? - Rodfather
They did not pick the absolute worst actor for Spock. For instance, they could have cast Chris Kattan. Akiva, I have a Mac but I've only used Picasa online. And only because I had some stuff I didn't want on Flickr. - Spidra Webster
@Spidra: Hahah. Yes, Chris Kattan would probably be the worst. - David Wilson
Don't particularly care for it. I used it once before I realized I could just export to Picasaweb from iPhoto. eta: Seems I'm thinking of something else (generic Google uploader? I used it a while ago). Didn't realize this was a recent release. Still don't care. - The Bohemian Penguin
Well, this of course has nothing to do with non-Mac users. That's kind of a given, you'd think. - Akiva Moskovitz
I guess for people who don't have or don't like Lightroom or Aperture, Picasa for Mac is a fairly exciting release. - Akiva Moskovitz
Does Picasa for Mac do things on the level of a Lightroom or Aperture? That would be impressive. - Spidra Webster
I have Lightroom and Photoshop CS3. I used them to edit RAW files. I also have a MacBook, so if I can avoid launching Lightroom (memory hog) or iPhoto (also a memory hog) just to quickly edit a JPG, I'm all for it. - Cecily
Chris Kattan would be better than the joker they chose. - Alex Scoble
Cecily, I've been pleasantly surprised at how many basic photo edits can be done directly in Preview. - Logical Extremes
Alex, Alex, Alex. What did Zachary Quinto ever do to you? - Spidra Webster
I'm supposed to get Lightroom since I'll be shooting RAW files in my new photo class. I better get on that. Cecily, how much memory in your MB? I have an MBP with 2gb. - Derrick
He played Sylar...poorly...nuff said. - Alex Scoble
Picasa beats iPhoto, and it's the software of choice that I install for family members looking to hook up their digital cameras. But as none of them have Macs, it doesn't really matter. For my part I use it as a video organizer because it's the only piece of software that comes close to being a video clip organizer. For my photography, Lightroom fills all my needs. - Eric P
D: you have a Pro, so you should be OK, but get an extra gig of memory just to be safe. Lightroom works, but my fan starts to sound like a dying swan after about an hour of work. - Cecily
LE: Preview? Really? *gives it a try* - Cecily
You can't really blame Zachary Quinto for playing a poorly written character. I think he'll be great as spock. Sorry for hijacking the thread here ;) - David Wilson
I forget that my Pro has 4 gigs of RAM. I sometimes leave Photoshop or Lightroom up in another Space and forget about it. - Akiva Moskovitz
